• Three Cities Of Malta

    The famous Birgu, Bormla and Isla towns are the old names of three cities, which are well known as Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea respectively. These three fortified cities which were built by the knights of St. John are regarded as one of the finest works of that period.

    Vittoriosa : It was the city where the knights were living at first. But gradually they disliked the old architectural works of the buildings and built new buildings with latest architectural designs and started to live in those new buildings. They had built many fortified and fascinating palaces. The Rich history of those glorious palaces can be explored by visiting the Vittoriosa town.

    Now, those old and splendid buildings have undergone massive restoration works. Most of those buildings hold many restaurants, casinos and maritime museums. There are many waterfronts also exist there. Those waterfronts give a panoramic view of the sun down in the city. It is the perfect place to take a rest after rumbling through the city.

    Senglea : This well fortified city was built with a sublime intention to accommodate the public in dangerous situations and to save the lives of common people in case of invasion. But, It was destroyed in 1565, during siege of Ottoman and then at the time of World War II. The war had claimed demolition of many colossal buildings leaving some of them in outworn conditions.

    But a massive renovation work was started soon and the old keepsakes were restored. Tourists can see the magnificent Grand harbor and Valletta opposite and the Parish church of Lady of victories, which have been restored.

    Cospicua : This is the third town among the three cities, which had received tremendous injuries during the war. Many beautiful waterfronts of the city were taken over by the drydock and now it is planning to beautify Cospicua.
